Hi Everyone

so as a bit of background I was diagnosed type2 in March, you were all lovely and advised me. My first result was 119, next hva1c result 47 and latest was 34.
I thought the nurse would be thrilled but he wasn’t and told me he wanted my reading to be 48?
I’m confused so we agreed for now I was going to reduce my 2 metformin twice a day to 1 metformin twice a day and 1 semiglutide a day. I’m really wanting to aim to be off meds altogether if that’s possible.

why do you all think he wasn’t happy with 34?

Thanks he didn’t mention type1 but he did say when I go back in December that he will do an additional test to check sometzbeginning with T that’s connected to cholesterol.
 
I think a lot of GP's see patients with progressive diabetes where they have to keep taking more and more medication. You've broken the mould. The GP could be in disbelief. 34 is an awesome result. Congratulations on reducing your meds in the first instance.
 
Aww thanks I don’t think the next one will be as good as when it had my last test it was summer and I’d managed to get my carbs rest to 80g a day. Since September I’m struggling to get below 120g I don’t know what’s happening unless it’s just me craving warm comforting dishes instead of salads. I’m so happy to be eating some portioned/measured fruit again which will push the carbs up.
What are you eating for dinner?
 
If my nurse was unhappy with a HbA1c of 34 for a T2 and wanted it at 48 I would know without any doubt that he hadn't got a clue. And if his knowledge of T2 is anything to go by I doubt that I would trust his advice about cholesterol and triglycerides
 
Hi @GoodClaret you’ve done brilliantly and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
I think many HCPs simply don’t understand diabetes properly and worry about hypoglycaemia even when no glucose lowering meds are being taken. Check out Two Keto Dudes on YouTube if you get a chance - they have a couple of episodes on reversing type 2 diabetes and explain it really well.

I agree with you that salads aren’t as appealing in this weather, warming comfort food is needed but there are lots of good recipes and ideas out there. Keep up the good work.
 

Semiglutide might cause hypos? Mind you, the obvious solution to this is to reduce or eliminate the semiglutide....
 
I'm with the others, he's got T1 in mind (If their HbA1c is relatively low, that could indicate they're encountering a lot of hypo's and yeah, that would be problematic). What he should have done was taken you off meds, and congratulated you on doing an absolutely amazing job!

So in lieu of that: You've done an amazing job! Congratulations!
