Hi
@Scott Taylor, Welcome to the forum and all things diabetic. There are type 1 diabetics here who have been managing their condition for 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, up to, I think, 60 years. My specialist says to all his new type 1 diabetic patients to ensure they obtain a good normal age retirement plan, the outlook is that good.
After 45 years on insulin I was suffering from night-time hypos despite 8 injections of insulin per day. Moving to an insulin pump made all the difference and has kept me stable for the past 7 ish years.
Of course, I was 'perfectly behaved and sensible' (NOT) in my younger years with such adventures as week long canoe trips and the like, but now, retired, kite flying and making as a hobby plus some health advocacy work keep me off the streets (most times).
Best Wishes with your journey and please keep reading, learning and posting !!
