Hi, Dicky here, I'm 54 - consider myself as entering the third 1/4 of my life. . Male, UK, Bucks, sort of, cockerpoo, Android, wife , kids , car , part time job, like mood swings and comedy. Sorry I am short on time so I will leave the list there. and go off piste.
What I would like. Some where to chat and air views with people in the same position.
I am quite blunt and think there are no offense words just people who find offense. This said I am not out to upset set anyone. I want to openly discuss subjects and get a general consensus of opinion not find out who's best. With this in mind what I can offer is an honest view. If you look closely it can be quite funny - think Jack Dee and Sean Lock having a non alcoholic beer in a cocktail bar and reviewing life.
Also check the keyboard for the letter next door if a word post seems miss spelt. I typo all the rime...
I got diagnosed 1 year and 3 months ago, T2. But I knew I had it years before. Symptoms peaked with massive energy loss, an rash/itch which would start anywhere on my body and wild mood swings. All the symptoms, I have found, are do do with my liver giving in. Worn down by T2 in my belief. There are a few other things that might be T2 related as well.
So, I didn't tell anyone but my wife , went skiing with family and friends and suffered. I feel there is a stigma - or maybe my projection.
You get cancer , everyone runs a marathon and shaves their hair off. Tell them your T2 and you get " should you be drinking that fatty?".... or is that just me.
Anyway, I read some things about weight, food and lifestyle and fast foward a year and I'm 10 Kg lighter, eat totally differently, have done two 5 day fasts (well 111 hours!).
So I toook myself off the metformin for 90 days as I think I was having side affects ..... I know, I know.
I've just gone back for my LTC review and had bloods done and I'm back up at 46. Down from my initial 51, but was on 41 whilst on metformin.
So I need to get back on the horse. I suspect the high reading is more than the occasional lapse into sugary s**t.
My name is Dicky and I think I'm a sugar addict. !
