I agree with Patch that you may need a higher insulin to carb ratio in the morning.
I'm not sure what type of porridge you ate but if it's the instant variety like Ready Brek then this may be the cause of your bg spike, try if you can to opt for rough-cut oats and add some seeds to the porridge as it cooks, I use linseeds and pumpkin seeds but you could use sunflower seeds for example or whatever else you fancy. The seeds contain healthy sources of fat and help slow down the absorption of the meal, I also add a desert spoonful of natural yoghurt to mine together with a handful of blueberries.
Also, to give the insulin a chance to work before the food digests you might want to consider injecting 10-20 mins before you eat, if you do just be careful and keep some fast-acting glucose to hand, your DSN will advise you further on this hopefully.
If you still don't have any luck consider changing breakfasts, it may well be that you can't handle porridge in a morning.
