Hi guys. I have had high blood sugar for 24hrs. It's not extremely high but around 14 mmol. It's starting to get very annoying and I can't bring it down with insulin or exercise. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?
Thanks

Swap both basal and bolus insulin to new pens fresh out the fridge, just to check it's not a problem with current pens getting too hot or just expiring etc.

Hi @CarysMia2711 sorry to hear this! I second @catapillar 's advice above, but also just thought I'd ask how you're feeling in yourself (high sugar notwithstanding)? I go high when I'm not well - when I had an awful infection last year I ended up on 180% of my normal pump basal rate for some time, which really surprised me!

It might be (sorry!) that you're going down with a bug or something.

Hugs!

Hi @CarysMia2711

I run through the following when running high:

As @catapillar has said change your insulin, it can go off, this is an easy one to rule out.
Check for infection /illness so any dental pain, illness then this could be your cause.
Female only - but are you due on ?
Check you injection sites for lumps and rotate where necessary.

Follow sick day rules until you can get your levels down, test more frequently and check for ketones. drink water and contact your DSN if you're still struggling after a day.

Remember too that higher sugars often mean you need a slightly larger correction ratio to overcome the increased insulin resistance.

If you can't get your BS down, I'd give your DSN a call.
