Just about 2 years ago I was forced by my worsening heart condition to rethink my alcohol consumption.
I enjoyed a few beers or wine most nights but didn't consider my drinking excessive or problematic until I needed to stop.
I came to realise that no matter how much or when you drink, if you have a problem stopping, then you have a drinking problem.
I have had one or two over the last two years, the special occasion thing, but now I realise that it's the actual occasion that's special, not the drink.
