Hi everyone, getting very confused with my sugars these last 3 days.

I eat very low carb aboutv30 to 40grams,

I take tresiba at nightime and novorapid and I'm normally quite stable with bg, waking up with 5.6 to 6.7, the last 3 days I've woken with readings of 11 I've had to give myself insulin even though I've not eaten? Today I woke with 11.4 and rising so I had 2 u novorapid, an hour later they're 13.7 and still going up? I've not even eaten and I'm HUNGRY.

Tried my GP and was met with the sadly normal incredulousyowell you must be eating more than you realise, are you diarising' Since I'm not a complete moron I onow I'm not doing anything wrong but this is so annoying and ruining my a1c and naking ne more worried about my eye health.

Just a thought, but have you tried changing your insulin cartridges and checking that your pens are dispensing the correct amount of insulin?

Otherwise, any chance you are coming down with an illness?

Thanks @EllieM that is worth checking, I WAS poorly at the weekend with a virus but fine now, I drink a lot of Pepsi max sugar free but just wondering about this having a possible impact on sugars? Anyone got thoughts on that please?

Last 2 days I have had similar pattern coming off a 16 hour fast my levels shot.up to 10 not even eating but as soon as i had made a omelette both times they dropped.

Also last night after eating my dinner i messed up not eating enough protein for day i felt really peckish and I'm not usually hungry my levels rose to over 10 but had had craving for chocolate and I never have that anymore had 3 bars and my sugars dropped down to 5 i couldn't believe what happened on my libre 2 I even pricked my finger to confirm.

How weird! A link between not eating enough causing high sugars?? My eating has been very minimal due to a bug at the weekend, interesting we've both experienced the same pattern

I just had scrambled eggs and mushrooms and I'm at 18 going higher - I've had 6 units of bolus!! No problem with my pen (prefilled cartridge) No idea what's going on- is it my basal failing??

When I get sudden highs with no obvious cause I usually put it down to my immune system. For me it's often the first sign I'm getting sick, before any other symptoms show up. Sometimes I've had these unexplained highs for a day or two without being ill after, but I like to think those were times my immune system kicked into gear and fought something off before it had a chance to become symptomatic.

If you’ve not eaten much carb recently, I wonder if your liver senses you need some more glucose to keep organs function and is doing a dump delivery.
It could also be that the virus effects are lingering, viruses like a feed of glucose, and can play havoc with the endocrine system.
I also go with @EllieM’s advice to check your cartridges, your pens. In the words of my favourite diabetes specialist doc: “If in doubt, throw it out”.
