Hi I was hoping for some advice I’m awaiting a bloods test next week to check my sugar levels, but I’ve been feeling really tired and getting pins and needles ect, any way I’ve used this pin prick device it said 2hours after eating check you’re blood, after hour 45 min I started getting pins and needles in my arms and feet and feeling really tired this was recent the results came back 30.0 35 min later I’m feeling better it’s at 9.8 does this sound like I should be worried.

Welcome to the forum. If you get a very high or low reading, you should wash your hands and take another test. I assume your strips are in date.

What had you eaten prior to the test?

Thanks for you’re reply I’ve not been diagnosed yet but been getting a lot of issues lately my dr said they want to do bloods next week, my levels are currently staying at 8.1, can someone who is not diabetic get a reading of 30.0. I had tomato soup bread and birthday cake

I would suspect no, but do note if you hadn't washed your hands (so had residue on them) this can affect it, or it could have been a dodgy test strip, I would be surprised if you had been at 30 but down to 9.8 only 30ish mins later

8.1 is a little high. As a T2 I wouldn't touch tinned soup, bread or normal cake. I suspect you had a dodgy strip or there was a contamination.

There are medications which can raise your blood glucose levels. Along with stress, infections, illness etc.

Good luck with the test, you know where we are if you need us.

Thankyou guys, I’ll keep you posted when I get my bloods done, I did wash my hands but maybe it was a dodgy one, not sure why I felt so tired with pins and needles in my wrists and feet, hopefully answers soon and thanks again for the reply’s x

Hi. It's possible it genuinely was a reading of 30. I would keep the carbs way down until you have the blood test as a reading that high if maintained needs urgent treatment.

Thanks for the reply, I don’t know much about it all that’s why I asked, I’ve been suffering with hand shaking most days for a while now along with pins and needles in my wrist feet and prickly feeling in my cheeks, blurry vision ect, so my dr running some different tests but she’s asked for me to do a fasting bloods next Friday so hopefully it shows what might be going on, x

I get restless legs if my bloods stay above 11-12 for a while. Its a nightmare at bed time when you want to relax.
I'd read somewhere that with your bloods been higher your nerves are more sensitive so tingling or pins and needles type of thing is common, they tend to go when bloods go back to normal

I agree with others that you may have had a contaminated test strip. If you go that high again test a couple of times
I test with my libre and if it's a strange reading il finger prick to check to see how accurate it is.
For about 2 months before confirming I was type 1 I lives in the 10-15 and 20 plus readings so having high bloods I know how bad they are, tiredness as you say you have is the most common thing and is just awful

Keep pushing to find out more and get what tests you can so you can get in top of things. Best thing I and many others on here did
