Highest Blood Sugar Levels

think I win this one with 91, but I don't want anyone try and beat it. ( it was not very pleasant) Gianni.

Thanks Everyone
Erin - you describe exactly how I felt a week back. Glad to hear you are better now

Wow, I am surprised that people becoming diabetic go over 30 -- I felt as if I was
sleeping and did not feel bad really. My diabetic nurse told me that she had seen higher!
My pharmacists were very kind and provided me with the meter and some lessons. But
I was pretty lethargic and mentally foggy, and I also saw a dark fog. It was eerie.
Without Banting and Best I don't think we would have survived very long. My mother was
absolutely delighted to see me lose so much weight. in a short time. D'Oh! Diabetes ran in my family
but I don't think she understood what the weight loss was related to. I could
hardly walk to her condo going as I was very weak. Anyway, I was
saved by my diabetic team. My diabetic nurse said that I had been pre-diabetic for some
time before, and I can understand that given some symptoms I had which I did not understand.
How long? Maybe 7-10 yrs.

What's your blood sugar been like today @Sallyspelling ?

Were you given any advice about increasing the insulin gradually? Are you counting carbs?

You haven't replied and I'm going offline now, so if your blood sugar is still high then give 111 a call. I think you need some medical advice and help to get your blood sugar down and get rehydrated @Sallyspelling

Sallyspelling please have a read of my post Lantus/Protaphane or a reply to a recent post. It may or may not help but talk to your team. You don't want to go through my year of he'll to get my levels down.

Let us know how you are. If you're cutting your carbs, make sure you test lots. Although your blood sugars were too high, you don't want to go the opposite way and have a hypo.

I'd be testing regularly - maybe one hour after eating and two hours and three hours. I'd also set an alarm to,test in the night to make sure all's ok.

Please, please be careful going zero carb.... please consider some minimal carbs.

You must be on mixed insulin to have 2 jabs in a day. So with these you need to eat... its just balancing it out.

It is also better to come down from high levels in a progressive plan than to suddenly drop as this can cause damage to your eyes.
Yes extreme highs like yours are awful but please take a softer approach now to balance yourself.

Thank you for tge advise . Got quite ill for this past two weeks, ended up in hospital
High ketones slight acidic, put my heart into oveedrive and lost my rythem. So got that sorted in resus . But good news is am back home b/s coming down nicely, just a case of adjusting insulin untill i get to below 15.
Am having some carbs at lunch time now
And the occasional slice of toast in the morning .
