Had phone call from my doctors surgery a lovely sounding lady introducing herself as the new head diabetic nurse at the surgery asking me how I was and if all my meds are correct . Thought this makes a change I replied bit of an issue with my insulin not really working great at the moment . Where she replied I’m sorry I no nothing about insulin you will have to tell me how it works as I don’t really deal with patients who are on insulinscarey

All of a sudden I have Iron Maiden in my head... "RUN TO THE HILLS, RUN FOR YOUR LI-HI-HIIIIFE..."

No idea why though. ;)

I will say that my local GP surgery primarily deals with T2s.
T1s are dealt with by the endocrine clinic at the local hospital.
So it is quite possible a GP based diabetic nurse has no experience of insulin users.
[I don't know what happens to T2s who progress over time to insulin. They may stay with the surgery or be transferred to the endocrine clinic.]

Edit: they don't know anything about Libre 2 and have no clinical route to access the readings so it is likely that they don't do insulin.]

This is no laughing matter. I suggest you report your conversation to the responsible local body. This is likely to be a local care system, 42 of which replaced clinical commissioning groups in England in 2021. A web search should identify your local board and address.

If no action is taken patients at your GP practice are at risk of suffering severe health problems.

Robert, the OPs situation, relating to scant knowledge by those in primary care is not uncommon, unfortunately.

The quality of care experienced by many T2 is minimal at best.
