Holidays and Mosquitos

It's that season again and I am dreading the foreign Med holiday she who must be obeyed drags me on, I'd rather go up to Scotland and suffer the Midgies. In recent years as my condition progresses the Mosies have been eating me alive on Med holidays. The wife is not bothered at all. This might sound daft but, is it our T2 blood that attracts mosquitoes :?: Cant think why else I am so bother by the little ******* these days :?
 
Avon do a lotion called 'Skin So Soft'. All our National Park rangers use it, the Forestry Commission foresters use it - and the Royal Marines use it! unless the Gurkhas are about, of course - they can smell it.

It doesn't smell the least bit 'girlie', and you can buy it on line - Google Avon Cosmetics.

Other mosquito repellants are available - Google 'mosquito repellant' :wink:

I've heard all sorts of theories, including if you drink milk, or if you drink alcohol, or try to eat lots of garlic 'cos they don't like the taste :D

All I know is, if I'm in the room, no-one else gets bitten.

It's only the females that bite, too. :lol:

Ah so the little ******* are females then :!: ... they must like the taste of Brittish beef :lol: Does explain why they leave herself alone :roll:

I also heard it was something to do with Vit B (I think) deficiency attracts them.

Will try the Avon trick, don't give a dam what it smells like it I get some peace, cheers for that :D
 
My son has had perfect success with taking brewers years tablets before and during his mozzie infested trips.
In Israel, when camping, he said he felt like some sort of drug dealer as members of his group were begging him for the thing that stopped him from getting bitten! He came home without one single bite.
Some say garlic caps work too.

Ah yes Brewers Yeast ... Vit B methinks :idea: Will give that a go.

Not so sure about the Garlic since I eat that like its going out of fashion on holiday and it make no difference.
 
I can vouch for the Avon Skin So Soft Bath oil (large bottle) which works just as well as their repellant (small tube). We keep several bottles of it for the visting family and friends as we live on a beach on the East coast of Australia with mangroves nearby.

We slather it on just to step out in the garden during the summer. It is like a massage oil and seems to be good for my skin. It also is very effective for our sandflies also known as midgies which affect me badly for many days/weeks, if they get me! I believe they pee on you, not bite! Gross :evil: !!
Vit B supplements or Vegemite are often recomended, taken orally, not applied to skin!
