I have a Bayer Contour Next and it keeps the last 800 test results, and can give me basic averages for fasting , pre and post meal, and overall results over four different time periods, which I find very helpful.
I can also upload results via usb cable to the (free) Bayer Glucofacts software on my PC. Previously with my Contour XT I wasn't able to upload, so kept a little notebook, and I started entering these into a mysql database - a rather time consuming exercise, which is still not complete.
I did give our practice diabetes doctor a graph last summer, but he wasn't particularly interested as "type 2s don't need to test"
Robbity
PS The Glucofacts software is mainly set up for type 1/insulin users, and has options for all sorts of info (that I doin't actually need or use), but I believe it's quite comprehensive.
