Just had to be away from home for the weekend. Was given a 1 litre sharps box when I was diagnosed a couple of months ago but it was too big to take with me. How do you dispose of your sharps when you are away from home for a few days?

You can buy the Sharpsafe Travel Box on the likes of ebay or Amazon, they don't cost much more than £3, or you can use your old bg strip container to store your sharps until you get back home.

I always just keep mine safe in whatever travel bag i have and put them in my sharps bin at home when i return :)

You can also ask for a needle clipper available on prescription , it clips the needle off and stores then in he device , the clipper is about the size of a lighter . Clips and stores hundred + needles, also it is safe to put needles into a lasting bottle and dispose of it in a bin (advise I was given by nurse) .

All my sharps can be made safe. Lancets have a cap that snap off before use and then cover the needle after use. Needles come with 2 caps that I replace and my used test strips I put back into the individual foil packs (not all come like this). I just put them in a slide lock sandwich bag and take them home to put in my home sharps bin which I just swap out at my local Health Centre when needed. I'm fortunate that at work they have a sharps bin that I can use.
I've always taken my litter home, so this is just the same to me.
