how to loose weight

hi,
guys.
please tell me how to loose weight. my weight is 78 kgs and I am type 2 diabetic . I need to loose a lot for my bmi to come in the normal range.
what needs to be done ?
 
Firstly, I wouldn't take much notice of BMI scale. The majority of the England Rugby Team are considered obese according to BMI. It's difficult to advise as I don't know your height, sex, age, build etc so advice can only be very generic. If you want to lose weight, you basically need to consume less calories than you burn. Don't be fooled into thinking exercise alone will do the trick, it won't. Good luck.

as well as less calories you need to reduce your carb intake i.e., potatoes, bread, pasta and rice. Carbs are very addictive and give steep increases in BG levels if eaten in the wrong quantities.

If you cut your carbs and count your calories the weight should start to come off. What are your readings?

Hello All
Need some advise diagnosed Feb 2013 hospital 1 week insulin x4 daily plus metformin stigaliptin. Non mobile wheelchair since March total çast April now putting on weight ! Not happy about this. Before non weight baring Hbc1 down to 42 last check 53 dread next check due end month ! Have Charcot foot/joint. Have had to increase insulin, but have hypos 2/3 a week.

Caught between a rock and a hard place!

When you were at your 42 hba1c, what was different from your 53 score?

I'm not in a position to give any advice on medication, just wanted to express sympathy - it must be a nightmare.

When diagnosed Hbc1 was 120 with 3 months 60 then 38 told to low ! In Nov 13 42 . Last tested June 53.
Between Nov 13 and June also had been on steroids for excema that was not fun put b/s very high 24 !
Diabetic consultant not very sympathetic told since diagnosis put on weight please bare in mind weight taken with caste and special shoe on they would not deduct weight !! Crazy then said why cannot you not exercise like you did before that is how got Hbc1 before. Had to say told due to condition total non weight baring also to put very little weight on other for as also has a fracture (orthopedics did talk about double caste but thank goodness he changed his mind as more a risk of DVT) No thanks.
Think weight gain approx 3/4 to 1 stone so puts be now as overweight on bmi scale.
Levemire 34 u novarapid 8 u blood sugars about 7-9 in mornings varies between 3.2-10 rest of the day.
Have tryed do weeding using hand fork sitting on a stool etc using crutches balance not great !
Oh well may think about trying to reduce insulin during day and less food again !
Need some pleasure in life !!

Been thinking about your situation.

Have you heard about something called a bodyblade?
I think you can get them from QVC or Amazon.
They are designed by a physiotherapist and a lot of exercises can be done while sitting down.

We got one when Mr B was treated for a frozen shoulder, and it certainly seemed to help him until he stopped remembering to use it!

I think you can probably find some videos and info on Youtube about it...

That's the great thing about the lifestyle Scandichic advised on, there're many loosing weight with out exercise or very little exercise. The proportions of macro-nutrients (protein, fat and carbohydrates) you consume are more important then the number of calories.
 
Been weighed at the hospital and it was 90.5kg wow ive lost about 1.5kg in a day.Yesterday morning it was 92kg at the nurses.I was way too early at the hospital so i went and took a walk round the block i walked for a good 30 to 40 mins none stop nice and steady pace. a good mile or so one way to kill time.I feel quite proud of myself walking for so long and so far.
 
For loosing weight diet comes first (it's like 80-85% of the result) and yes there're studies but I didn't bother to find them. Some great advice hear http://www.dietdoctor.com/how-to-lose-weight
Exercise is if you want to get more healthy and it's good for both the heart and the brain, weight lifting if you want to gain some muscle to increase fat-burning/metabolic rate.
