I use a little less than you do, on a mostly low carb diet.
Currently at 114 units of basal and anywhere between 20 and 70 units of bolus through the day.
If I ate high carb meals as a rule I'd definitely go over 200 units on most days.

edit:
Oh, I see I'm cross-posting, I hadn't noticed this was the Type 2 with insulin sub forum.
Still, I think you're happy to read my post, knowing you're not alone! :)

Not me personally (though I would if I didn't low carb as though I'm T1 I've got an added side of insulin resistance via my dad's T2 genetics) but they make U300 and U500 insulins specifically for people who need lots of insulin, so you are definitely not alone.

You should be using whatever dose you need to keep your blood glucose OK. In the past I have been all the way up to 900u per day, now at 400-500u per day. I'm on the Humulin u500 concentrated insulin.

I was on more than you until I used every means to lose weight and I'm now insulin free. So far no adverse effects other than a bit weight gain off insulin. Weird I know but true.
I think low level of insulin did what I needed when I was on 400units daily. It gave me regularity.
I've lost that regularity. I'm just search fir than without insulin now. Wish me luck. I had my gallbladder removed recently and up pop my missing periods. Every month so far which is unusual in its self.
I was on 400+ units daily for a long time. I was gaining and gaining with the more I needed to keep from high bgs. Then I discovered an excellent maintenance of 5s and 6s. They continued as did my weight loss. I had to inject even for protein. I took drastic measures to have a safer health and with it I was able to reduce insulin every few days. Its taken over 2yrs to get rid of it and numerous c-peptide blood tests and vigorous testing. It has taken longer than I thought and at one point thought I'd never get rid of it. I just ploughed ahead with my hospital support. I'm struggling to keep longterm 6s. Mostly due to metformin nasty side effects. I won't let it defeat me. I'm not confident my hba1c is going to be under 48 though. Even on reduced metformin to just 1000mg from ghastly 2000mg. I'm not on codeine but tramadol now. Codeine's side effect was an asset so now using more buscopan for painkiller to combat nasty intestine cramps.
I understand the feelings of being on soooo much insulin just to keep myself straight and energy charged.
Without insulin I'm energy drained too. More due to higher bgs than the loss of insulin. I low carb as much as possible. I eat low calorie due to my operation 27months ago. I'm now 15st rather than the 22-23st before Roux-en-y in 2019.
I'm working on reducing my own liver output in the absence of higher metformin. I'll combat Carbs just to give me my best optimum metabolism.
I feel for your health status. I understand how important it is to keep good control.
Many type2s who are hugely overweight need high levels of insulin injected. Those who cannot get low carb eating work for them.
How are you getting on with low carb eating?

I feel prices will settle down once drivers are trained. I'd train myself if I could but I still don't feel ready to drive again. I'm going to try a few lessons to bring my confidence back.
I'm hoping a government scheme will kick in for young people to take driving jobs; well under 25s. Insurance would be sky high for haulage company otherwise.
It will sort itself out. Stick to protein, if you can.

Have you tried half of a banana if you need the potassium?
Or mix in nut chips to half a banana. Unsalted nuts would taste better but only if you don't need the salt.
I had to use novarapid with protein when I was highly IR. I was able to stop novarapid first then toujeo300.
I finish eating on a protein which helped me. Everything I ate was protein filled.
I only reduce my insulin as per specialists instructions. It was halved as soon as I had a major operation to reduce my stomach. Then I stopped the remaining insulin after another op but on gallbladder removal. I always kept in mind my bg readings as they keep me right regarding when to reduce or stay with same amounts of insulin. I felt safer taking novarapid just before my meals. It worked to stop the night higher bgs, then.
