I was on more than you until I used every means to lose weight and I'm now insulin free. So far no adverse effects other than a bit weight gain off insulin. Weird I know but true.
I think low level of insulin did what I needed when I was on 400units daily. It gave me regularity.
I've lost that regularity. I'm just search fir than without insulin now. Wish me luck. I had my gallbladder removed recently and up pop my missing periods. Every month so far which is unusual in its self.
I was on 400+ units daily for a long time. I was gaining and gaining with the more I needed to keep from high bgs. Then I discovered an excellent maintenance of 5s and 6s. They continued as did my weight loss. I had to inject even for protein. I took drastic measures to have a safer health and with it I was able to reduce insulin every few days. Its taken over 2yrs to get rid of it and numerous c-peptide blood tests and vigorous testing. It has taken longer than I thought and at one point thought I'd never get rid of it. I just ploughed ahead with my hospital support. I'm struggling to keep longterm 6s. Mostly due to metformin nasty side effects. I won't let it defeat me. I'm not confident my hba1c is going to be under 48 though. Even on reduced metformin to just 1000mg from ghastly 2000mg. I'm not on codeine but tramadol now. Codeine's side effect was an asset so now using more buscopan for painkiller to combat nasty intestine cramps.
I understand the feelings of being on soooo much insulin just to keep myself straight and energy charged.
Without insulin I'm energy drained too. More due to higher bgs than the loss of insulin. I low carb as much as possible. I eat low calorie due to my operation 27months ago. I'm now 15st rather than the 22-23st before Roux-en-y in 2019.
I'm working on reducing my own liver output in the absence of higher metformin. I'll combat Carbs just to give me my best optimum metabolism.
I feel for your health status. I understand how important it is to keep good control.
Many type2s who are hugely overweight need high levels of insulin injected. Those who cannot get low carb eating work for them.
How are you getting on with low carb eating?
