People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
Going back to mdi... And also need to avoid all food with artificial flavourings, sweeteners or colourings...

Anybody got ideas on what I can have?

Jelly babies/beans affect my stomach-and are a no go.

All fizzy drinks have chemicals and they are a no no.

Not keen on dates, but will try them.. But need to have something I really like..

At home I would just add sugar to milk or coffee.. Its just out n about or something to have on bedside table.

Realised that my favourite hypo stoppers.. Maomi pinballs have so many chemicals in that they are also affecting me..

Needs to be something that doesn't melt in car. Or I can put in a mini coolbag..

I could be wrong but aren't Haribo supposed to be fairly good for not containing artificial flavourings etc?

A case of "These sweets are Haribo!"
Then dont eat them!
Seriously, if you are stuck try making old style toffee with glucose. You can control what goes in, and can control the dosage.
Good luck on the search.

Those little sugar sachets you find in restaurants, MacD etc.? Inoffensively packaged for glove box, bedside drawer, pocket of a handbag etc. Tear and pour straight into your mouth, and they won't go off over time.

My Mum used to collect sugar cubes for me from restaurants and cafés when I was first diagnosed. Used to come paper-wrapped in twos. They did use to lose their corners after a while ;)

I find small cartons of juice are effective - they don't need to be refrigerated and you can choose flavours based on what you like (orange, apple, pineapple, etc). The big supermarkets sell "pure juice" ones without additives.

are you trying to avoid every and any chemical..........?

Pretty much.. Except citric....All off my actual eating is fresh meat or veg or fruit... I don't eat biscuits unless I've made them. I looked at lucozade and decided I could put up with the sugar from pure pineapple juice instead.

Looked at contents of pinballs and they even had talc in them!!

I had pinballs as hypo stopper a few nights back and in the morning I had pain.. Nothing before or after since giving artificial stuff a total wide berth.

I suppose fresh fruit juice is a good option actually, if the stuff out the shops is free from chemicals etc...

Dates. Glycemic index of 103 according to Pumping Insulin. That means they're better than glucose, and they're not "empty calories", that is, they contain various vitamins and trace elements, such as iron.

Going to make a date n pecan recipe in a while so I will try to eat one!!

They actually remind me off the horrible things on "i'm a celebrity get me out of here" - goodness knows why...

I will try one as this would be the best thing for me I think..

If I can eat olives now.. Then I should be able to start liking dates.. Honest they jyst remind me of fried grubs!!

Will try in a while!!!

Pineapple juice in a carton seems to be non sustainable for raising.. Where as millk n sugar at home sustains higher levels. Plus fact my carton is 22carbs that I have at the moment...a bit too much really.

Like the sound of licquorice too. I do like that... That appeals.

Kendal Mint Cake? Basically Sugar, Glucose and peppermint extract, you can even choose whether it's brown or white sugar!

I forgot about that!! Used to have it years ago... And boy I love it...
Thankyou..

Along the same line as Kendal Mint Cake, I've started using Thorntons Dairy Butter Tablet, it comes in a 285g bag so I just carry a few squares around in a small bag and leave the rest in the fridge, it is 78g CHO per 100g and has sugar, butter, sweetened condensed milk and glucose syrup in it and no artificial flavours or colours. I happened upon it as I was going hypo outside Thorntons. It is a bit like hard, crumbly fudge and is a bit different to dextrose tablets.
