Hi Everyone,
I am trying to help my mother, she was diagnosed with diabetes type 1(she doesn't take Insulin Injection, just diet and some medication to help her nerves and control her diabetes level), I am trying to help her control her disease through diet and exercise which her doctor suggested. My mother is a very simple person who would spend her day at home (or shopping) doing a lot of housework and she finds reading online articles about diabetes kind of difficult for her because she doesn't know English and the stuff available in our mother language is not that helpful to her because of its complex scientific language. I know this might be vague question, but I would appreciate if someone could tell me where I can find resources about controlling diabetes through diet and exercise, I need straight forward practical and helpful articles, videos, mobile apps ... etc.
I am planning to :
· Spend sometime doing research to understand her disease, read more about it, watch movies, download apps … etc, in order to be able to help her.
· Provide her with source of information, easy for her to understand
· Help her manage her disease (urge her to maintain diet and exercise)
· Support her feelings and make everything possible to help her feel better
I am doing well on first point, I read some online sources about the disease and I am preparing some content for her to be able to read and understand, but I need help with 3 and 4, where can I find good information about beneficial diet recipes and good exercise, and what can I do to help make her feel happy?
