I am very young at age 18 and I think I have insulin resistance Genes. Can anyone offer some insight?

I do not have diabetes
I am 18 years old and I have tested my fasting glucose at home and it was 5.9, which is very high. Next I ate 2 bowls of dessert then 90 mins later I tested my glucose and it was 5.72. A1c came out to be 36 mmol/mol. Is there something wrong with me, am I developing diabetes, have my insulin resistance genes revealed? If anyone can reply I will be delighted!

36 is a perfectly normal hba1c.
A blood glucose of 5.7 only 90 minutes after eating two (supposedly high carb/sugar) desserts is something no diabetic would ever see.

May I ask why you are testing? What makes you think there is something wrong?

Well cuz about 2 years ago I was diagnosed with PreDiabetes as my a1c was 39 mmol/mol, as in the USA 39 and above is prediabetes, due to this I wanted to do further testing, happened to have a blood sugar meter laying around at my grandmas house. Interestingly 2 years after the a1c of 39 it came down to 36 without me doing anything meaning no weight loss, diet changes etc. that’s why I wanted to do these tests just to get a better idea if there was truly an issue. Doctor told me I need to change my lifestyle in America but I didn’t listen unfortunately, luckily it didn’t progress.

Those are all perfectly normal numbers, no where near anything pointing to diabetes of any type,
Ok, thanks!

@Ali Akin , you may be interested to know that the US has a lower threshold for Prediabetes than most other countries. In Canada and Europe you are diagnosed prediabetic when your blood sugars reach 42 mmol/mols.

Well yea im not worried about the a1c anymore as it went to 36 mmol/mol on its own without me doing anything, and 36 is comfortably away from 42.

The US (via the CDC) lowered its definition of prediabetes recently. I think there are at least five different definitions of "prediabetes" - have look at this paper:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articl...EC recommended,for defining prediabetes (112).
