We live in Exeter and my m-in-law, Pat, lives in Bude, so every few weeks we pop down to see her. She'll be 87 in a couple of weeks and while she's deeply scatty in some ways, (she's always been like that, I've been told 
) in other ways she's still as sharp as a needle. However, I managed to catch her out yesterday....
I said to her "You know the regional Devon & Cornwall Police HQ near us? Burglars broke into it last week and stole all the toilets from the building...!"
She looked shocked and concernedly said "No! Really?"
And I replied "Yes, apparently police have nothing to go on....."
She hit me.
