This morning I woke and my bs was 4.4' this afternoon I was feeling very shaky tested my blood and it was 4.4. I don't understand why I was fine at that level in the morning but I felt totally different this afternoon?

Every low level can feel different depending on the time of day as well as how quickly your level has dropped....

the morning is particularly rife with other hormones and so that may have been the reason...

as long as you have your meter you'll be in the know....;)

Another thing to consider is that glucose meters are not 100 per cent accurate. If I remember correctly they have a typical margin of error of about 15%. If I have the maths right that means that your true glucose level when the meter is showing 4, 4 could be 0,7 higher or lower. Your true morning level could have been as high as 5,1 and your true afternoon level as low as 3,7

Please don't perpetuate this myth @pavlosn. A typical meter doesn't have a margin of error of 15%. According to the ISO standard it has a requirement that 95% of readings have a maximum error of 15% or less.

As errors will generally be based on a normal distribution, it works out that only about 6% of readings will be 15% or more away from the real value. The majority of readings will be good.

So in relation to the OP, whilst the readings could've had the range you're mentioning, the likelihood is very low that two readings would be equally far away from the reality.

Perhaps your BS was 4.4 and rising or level in the morning, and 4.4 and dropping in the afternoon.

I feel low at normal levels if I'm dropping quickly.
