I am 80 years old. I am having type 2 diabetes from 30 years. I had been taking 30/70 premixed insulin of 60 units per day, 40 units before breakfast and 20 units before dinner. I get fasting bg values of about 110 to 120 mg/dl. Recently, I got hypos in the range of 50 mg/dl to 60 mg/dl, for three days continuously in the evenings. I then reduced the insulin dosage to 30+10=40 units to avoid hypos. I am afraid of reducing the insulin dosage further to avoid diabetes complications. I am very much confused about the bg values since I never had hypos like this.

Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
Hello @achyut1939 Can you see your diabetes specialist/nurse to review your insulin doses with them or call them ? Obviously repeated incidents of hypos means you are taking too much but we cannot advise you on your insulin doses here, your healthcare team needs to review this with you.

You are taking a mixed insulin, so cannot adjust your basal and bolus independently - I have seen other posts on the forum where people have had to refer back to their drs to sort out this problem.

Please see your doctor and let us know what she/he says. If I were you (and remember I have no medical qualifications whatsoever, I am just another type 1 talking about her own self so this is NOT advice) I would cut down on the insulin even more until the point where I don't get hypos. Plus I would take my blood sugar with the meter and record the results.
