I had my last 30 units of Levemir today. I am changing long acting insulin because Levemir is not doing what it should do. I had one dose of levemir a day. Bye Levemir.

Often levemir is taken twice a day (am & pm), did you ever try it @nathanw777

Either way hope you get better results with your new basal insulin.

Hi. What were you expecting Levemir to do? What is your Bolus insulin? I have Levemir once a day and it works fine but not for 24 hours. I guess we are all different.

Guys, this is outdated as the hospital told me to continue using Levemir until Monday and on Monday I'll start using Tresiba, which come with pens

No, the hospital only wanted me to take it once. I got Tresiba. The 300ml light green pens.

I have recently been changed to Levemir after humalin I stopped working for me.

I have a split dose so 12 units in the evening and 10 in the am. This works well for me.

I know how it feels to get frustrated with your long acting. I hope your new one works better for you :)

i switched from levemir to toujejo not too long ago, my doctor told me levemir doesn't work for the full 24 hours -- idk if you can get it where you live though.

I switched to Levemir 2 weeks ago. My BMs were up and down for a week straight, then woke up feeling very unwell. Checked my sugars which were 12, my ketones were 3, took insulin and tried to eat, couldnt keep anything down, ended up being sent to hospital after speaking to a DSN. I was home by 5pm, no infection found or any reason why it might have happened. Upped my levemir that night, next moring woke up with ketones again, managed to get rid of them myself. Upped my levemir again... next morning ketones again.... same deal, still had a lantus pen in the fridge, switched back to that and havent had a problem since. I have an appointment with my DSN tomorrow. Will be telling her I have no intention of trying Levemir again! Guess not all insulins work for everyone.

It took a freestyle libre and a couple of days fasting (thanks to food poisoning :depressed:) to show me that my levemir want lasting the full 24 hours. I now split my dose morning and evening, reduced it a bit too, and I'm much happier with it.
