I have been eating medicines for diabetes

What type of diabetic are you as your profile is not filled in, and we would be guessing.

What medication are you eating?

LCHF and meat helped me reduce my bgl
 
I don't remember what type it was , all i remember was one day when i checked my blood sugar levels it was high .
i went to see a doctor and he told me to eat a medicine called diag sr .

does working out reduce it ?
 
Can you give us more information about the medicine, I do not recognise that name.

I did not take any medicine, instead I bought a meter to test my blood - for a few weeks I tested before every meal and then two hours after I started to eat.
This showed me how many carbohydrates I can eat.
For me it was 85g a day, other people have to go lower.
By eating less than 85g of carbohydrate a day, and no more than 30g in one meal, I managed to reduce my blood sugars so I do not need any medicine.
Now my blood sugars are in the normal range I eat up to 100g a day, but no more.
Most foods contain carbohydrate - apart from meat, some fish, chicken, eggs, etc. - you can find the information on the labels or online.

Apart from meat, fish and chicken I eat cheese or eggs, some vegetables, some thick yogurt and a little fruit but only berries. Plus a small amount of very dark chocolate (85%).
I eat cauliflower, made into a 'rice', and cabbage, spinach, green beans, lettuce, any 'green vegetable', maybe a little tomato, onion or butternut squash.
Plus a small amount of raspberries or blueberries or rhubarb.
I make bread with ground almonds and coconut flour instead of wheat.
 
Likely to be T2 as I assume you're not taking insulin

Hello there @Yogibear39 , and welcome:)

Could it be, that for some reason the name of your prescribed medicine is left out, namely:

Diag is usually a medical abbreviation for diagnose, and
SR, is pointing in the direction of a medicine of type Slow Release
??

metformin hydrochloride 500 mg
glimepiride 1 mg

I have even done a 6 month sugar level test and it was way above average

Sorry , i dont know if its a type 1 or type 2

I am only 34 years old

Metformin won't do much on its own. It needs to be used in conjunction with a low carb diet and ideally increased exercise.

Have you made any diet changes?

Thank you, for your answer - this helps us a lot already, but yes, the other questions here are also important, so try to take some time, and answer the questions you already have an answer to give on.
We can assume, but only assume, that you are a type 2 then...
 
I dont inject insulin
I have stopped taking direct sugar , like tea , coffee with sugar etc
I am avoiding all sorts of sweets

I am from india , so my diet is mostly rice and wheat .

I have plans to work out too

Works to increase the insulin produced by your pancreas. It’s more immediate and stronger in effect than metformin. So both medications are aimed at type 2’s.
As a type 2 the answer is to eat fewer carbs. Eg rice and wheat Maybe lots less but as you are taking Glimepiride take them down slowly whilst also monitoring your levels on your own meter to make sure you don’t go too low.

Does working out decrease blood sugar levels ?

Yes i will do some research on this .

I am cutting down my carbohydrates intake in all the ways i know .

I have plans to start exercising from Monday on wards

If i have more doubts i will ask here
 
Hi. Can you also let us know whether you have excess weight or are slim. It is most likely that you are T2 but T1 can't be discounted if you are slim as you are quite young to be T2. If T1 then insulin will eventually be needed. Reducing the carbs in your diet is vital although not easy with Indian meal recipes. The Glimepride will be making your pancreas produce more insulin so should help.
