I have just about given up trying to get help from Dr’s and Nurses

Since I have not been able to get Trulicity injections, my Glucose levels have spiralled out of control, some days hitting 27!
I tried phoning The Dr’s to ask for advise, I was told I didn’t have an appointment, they made me an appointment for 2 and a 1/2 weeks later.
in desperation I phoned the Diabetic outpatients at the hospital, they were brilliant and connected my Freestyle Libre 2 to their system, and they could check my levels, I was on 24 units of Humulin i twice a day, through their advise I am now on 44 units twice a day, and although numbers have come down slightly they are still peaking at 22 - 24.
they arranged an appointment with the Dr at the clinic by telephone for last Friday, they didn’t phone.
i am at a loss of what to do next.
i am sleeping most of the day, so thirsty, I can’t quench it, consequently the rest of the time I am running to the toilet.
my scalp is so itchy, together with my arms, my neuropathy is killing me and my ankles are swollen.
any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi Nannie Valerie and welcome to the forums. I'm not best placed to help you as I have no personal experience with insulin. I'm going to tag a couple of members who might be able to assist.

@Antje77 @EllieM @searley @In Response

You also need to know that no-one on this forum should be trying to advise you about your dosages or changing them.

Hi @Nannie Valerie , you must be feeling so awful with those numbers, I'm sorry.

With numbers this high, I'd phone outpatients again if it's possible on sunday. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with calling 111 for advice.
Can you test for ketones?

Should you get any symptoms like nausea, belly ache, funny breathing, or breath smelling like acetone or pear drops, seek immediate medical advice, those are symptoms of a rare complication called DKA.
Not very likely but not impossible either so it's good to be aware of the symptoms.

What are you eating and drinking?
Perhaps there are some changes you can make there to get your numbers down a bit more.

Hang in there!

Hi @Nannie Valerie and welcome to the forums.

You could phone 111 and ask for advice?

I would also phone outpatients again first thing on Monday, ask them to phone you again. They may want to adjust your insulin some more or try you on some different medication and/or insulin.

As @Antje77 there may also be some dietary changes that will reduce things down a bit more.

And the DUK site (the diabetes charity) have a helpline that is open weekdays 9 till 5

0345 123 2399 (Scotland 0141 212 8710)

Good luck and once more welcome
