Their lower sugar ones don't have maltitol which is good, but they are still around 25% sugar. I sometimes make keto hot chocolate with just cream and 100% dark, or powdered cacao, but it could be nice to have something like this in solid form.

I use Lindt 95% in moderation, no big rise in BG!

I've acquired a taste for Montezuma's Absolute Black 100% cocoa chocolate bars, with no added sugar, no gluten, soya free and made without dairy ingredients. Perfect if you're vegan, a keto or low carb lover also food intolerances, I imagine.

Perhaps it's an acquired taste, but quickly grew on me. It's rich and intense, so a little goes a long way.

Me too. Like anything you have to build up to it, don't try it straight from milk chocolate. Aim for the 70s, 85% 90% and then the hundred. Absolute black 100% is the only chocolate I can keep the house. It's like a medicine, help me go to the loo and it's a definite pick me up. Occasionally I get the nibbles but it's never too bad, it seems to satisfy. I have about five bars in the house I could never do that with any other percentage. I have no sense of missing out the whole thing feels like an upgrade.

Lindt Excellence 99% is delicious. Back in the day, I would not even have recognised it as chocolate. Now I won’t settle for anything less! It is amazing how one’s tastes change. Even someone like me who used to live on giant Kit-Kats.

If I am prediabetic, does this mean I can never eat chocolate, cake or biscuits ever again?
chocolate.. and some of the tastiest has 50% sugar.. and if you've got the taste for it you wont be alone.. I ve switched to high cocoa ..85% chocolate has much lower sugar content.. if you struggle with eating chocolate orange ..cadburys etc you will have to exercise more.. walk and walk and walk.. every time you exercise your muscles are using up sugar in the form of glycogen which is stored in the muscles.. so more exercise will keep you in chocolate.. ideally get off the stuff .. but dont let it make you sad.

Initially, I was told all sweets and biscuits were out when I was diagnosed as T1.
But when I met my specialist, he said nothing (except pure sugar) was totally banned but can be considered in the round ensuring balance.
For chocolate, I love Asda Just Essential Dark Chocolate. I have a couple of squares occasionally after a 'large' meal but include it in my calculations.
The best part is that it costs 30p (that's £0.30) a bar - much cheaper than any previous suggestions.
My specialist said considered moderation is better than total abstinence which can affect mental health more than blood sugars.

I use to love 95% Lindt dark chocolate . I got carried away and started eating every day. Just about ¾ of the pack every day. Oops that’s too much and the saturated fat in dark chocolate brought my Total cholesterol very high. My total cholesterol was 295 mg/dL.
I completely stopped dark chocolate and stopped other saturated fats. Now after 6-7 weeks my total cholesterol is 129 mg/dL.
I guess for some people dark chocolate in moderation is good.
