I need a recommendation for a blood glucose meter

I bought a meter (VivaChek) a month ago and it works fine but it would seem you can only buy strips and lancets together. I already have a couple of boxes of lancets I'll never need. I think the most cost effective/sustainable thing to do would be to buy another meter where you can buy strips and lancets separately. Does anyone have a recommendation? I don't mind initial outlay but would like a good price point for the strips.

I use the Accu-chek Instant, strips (here), and lancets (here), sold separately £13:30 for 50 strips works out at about 27p per strip. Whether that's a price point you can live with I don't know, but it's ok for me.

I use a Gluco Navii GDH meter, from Home health it cost just over £30 for the kit plus an extra 250 strips.
Currently 250 strips are £36.39. free delivery.

Hi @Margarettt

I’ll tag our lovely forum member @Rachox who has some great info on different meters and where to but them :)
I’m away this week @lovinglife but here’s the info. Please feel free to copy and paste it if someone else needs it.

Here’s some info on UK meters, and to be clear I have no commercial connections with any of the companies mentioned.

HOME HEALTH have the Gluco Navii, which is a fairly new model and seems to be getting good reviews.

Links to the strips for future orders:

Then they sell the older SD Code Free, details to be found here!

SPIRIT HEALTHCARE have a meter called the Tee2 + which is quite popular:

The strips are to be found here:

If there is a choice of units of measurement then ‘mmol/L’ are the standard units in the UK, ‘mg/dl’ in the US, other countries may vary.

Don’t forget to check the box if you have pre diabetes or diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for all meters and strips)

Hi, no idea if this is useful or if this meter is ok or what this stuff costs nowadays but I happened to get this email after seeing this post…
