Ok folks

I have searched (probably not well enough) the forums for either an Ice cream recipe, plain or flavoured, or suggestions for a type/brand of ice cream that is not going to send my BG into melt down (where are you Ben and Jerrys Caramel mmmmm)

Regards

Dave J

Mini milk lollies only have 5.1g of carbohydrate each. Not quite as good as Ben and Jerry's (Cookie Dough was my fav!) but I've resorted, to one or two mini milks since low carb diet started 3 months ago!

I'd second the Oppo.. chocolate hazelnut is my favourite doesn't seem to spike me and about 8% carbs (8g per 100g)
Missed @badcat so I'll third it
I haven't managed to find this legendary Oppo, where do you buy it?

can you get the licorice flavoured Majestics? the licorice coating actually brings blood sugar down. not easy to find though, as its not a very popular flavour. I find Iceland's Italiano to be quite diabetes friendly as long as you don't over-indulge.

Although I'm guessing you can't buy it in Oz yet?
Probably not.

I have not seen it in the shops, but then we do not buy much ice cream in the shops as a we have a Home Ice Cream man that sell various stuff to the home.

Oppo is a trade name for a ****** Chinese mobile phone / electrical company here in Australia.

I got the ****** phone company when I first Googled it!

I bought the ****** Oppo F1 android phone when it first came out last year in Australia, I will never buy a phone from them again.

Ice cream wasn't a high carb food originally - it is frozen real custard, made with eggs and cream.
My grandmother used to make it using a freezing mixture and a hand cranked ice cream machine, with the cream from a local prize winning herd of Jersey cows and the eggs from her own poultry. When word got around there would be a queue waiting to buy it - they had a shop in a village. The ice cream was called 'forget me not' and it was prescribed for sickly children by the local doctor and nurse.
I used to make it and added chopped walnuts and a little honey - for the flavour rather than sweetness.

Alpro icecream is quite low carb too and easier to buy as Tesco and Morrisons stock it.

Yet another vote for Oppo and in particular the chocolate and hazelnut flavour. Extra nice with some double cream added.
