I asked my gp if he would make a referral, but he refused because he doesn't see the need. As far as he's concerned, 'we're doing alright' and to wait until April is perfectly reasonable.
My bg is coming down generally (got a 5.9 yesterday afternoon), but the pattern is really bizarre - it's really high in the mornings, even after a 12 hour fast.
My husband thinks I must be 'sleep eating' !
Who knows, at this point it's as good an explanation as any!

You could try Birds Eye Petits Pois only 6.8g cabs per 100g
ohh thanku for that will check them out caulifour mash is losing its sparkle lol x

Here is some other veg that you can try and is yumm..

Roasted celeriac about 9g/100g but heaven first time last night. Andy said tough skin to peel off then he chopped it into small squares about 1cm each and roasted them in lot of butter. ABSOLUTE heaven.

I also want to try Kohlrabi friend said get the green ones and eat raw although can be cooked. And easy to grow she said did about 12 in a growbag last year.

And l love Romanesco Broccoli cross between broccoli and cauli again l love this but fairly hard to get.

Shredded spinach cooked in a bit of butter.

hi ness, you may or not , have heard about liver dump!. this is when you have been fasting overnight, the liver releases its store of glucose to get you going, this is what raises your BGs in the morning. it should eventually stop happening lol.

Yes Christine is right, my liver can take two weeks to stop churning out its glucose store. During that time my BGs are normally lower after an eight hour fast than they are after a 12, but it does eventually sort itself out.

Well it's because you are not eating. You are fasting during sleep.

The body is subject to a number of homeostatic processes, that is, processes which keep things like your blood temperature, your hydration levels, salt and iron levels, your blood glucose levels, etc etc within certain ranges. When your blood glucose level drops to roughly around 4.0, your liver drawns on fatty acids and triaglycerides to create new glucose from your own body in a process called gluconeogensis. You can live for a few weeks without eating anything and your body will try and keep your glucose levels stable.

Thanks for the pep talk - my family say I'm a royal pain in the butt when I start - time to spread the love then!

:sour: I'll send you some of my New York attitude to help you along......grr-r-rr-rr........:grumpy::shifty::cyclops:

This site is brilliant, as are you all - I'm so grateful for the advice you give me, it's making a real difference to how I see and start to manage my diabetes.
Gluconeogensis I had no idea! I thought that not eating = lower bg, obviously not.
Please keep the info coming, I definitely still have a lot to learn.
