I’ve just come back from holiday and I’m passing more water than the Trevor fountain !

Sugar level is 29.9mmol - what would that be in Hbac etc ?

Thanks

Well, it's an HbA1c of 20 or 195 (depending which units you've been using), but only if that had been your average blood sugar for 3 months, which I'm sure it hasn't. Are you on medication to bring that down, or just diet? If you're on insulin you could take some extra but otherwise I think you should take yourself to your doctor, or even casualty. That's dangerously high.

Thank you EllieM
Last year I was diagnosed and a level close to 100 Hba1c was reported.

At home all I have is the normal meter. This 29.9mmol reported.

I was looking for some reference points.

I have been hiding from this for sometime. When the initial diagnosis came I lost weight and it plummeted to below 50, but I’ve slipped !

Thanks though for getting back

I advise that you test again and a third time. Make sure you're hands are clean. If you are getting similar readings then ring NHS Advice on 111 or take yourself to A&E to get sorted.

I agree with @Guzzler. If that figure is accurate you need to do something about it immediately. I'm not sure how DKA works for T2s, but for T1s with a figure like that it can lead to coma and death, and I think it can happen to T2s too, though less often. Please take care.

Agree with the above and want to add that a blood sugar this high is not something to sit out until after the weekend. At least get ketones checked.
Ketoacidosis is not very common in type2, but possible. Being type1 with a misdiagnosis based on age is possible as well.
It's not relevant what the numbers are in relation to hba1c, what's relevant is making sure you're not in immediate danger right now.
Good luck, hope things will be better soon and please let us know what happens.

Good morning @Clan how are you this morning?

Morning
Ive taken readings again this morning, before eating but plenty of sleep and it’s circa 21mmols .
It was a shock to me to get home after travelling and it being so high !

Now that I’m home and have my meter I can assess better. I feel absolutely fine and I’m very well hydrated and will continue to drink plenty of water.

The situation I find myself is no worse now than when I was first diagnosed. I know what I need to do so I need to give myself a shake !
If anything changes, negatively I’ll do as you say and present myself at A&E etc

Can I say I was a real cynic regards forums previously but it’s a real comfort to know that “strangers” essentially pass on their advice so freely and it’s thoroughly appreciated.

Thank you

It's good to hear from you this morning. Keep testing more over the next 24 hours, some of us feel fine even with such high numbers. It may be an idea to visit your GP and to avoid any booze over the next few days.

Thanks for getting back to us and good luck.

Please keep drinking lots!!! I was admitted with your levels and symptoms to hospital 7 weeks ago. Diagnosed with DKA. I had 6.2 ketones. Is there any way you could check your ketone levels? Drinking water like a fish is a sure way to bring ketones down. I was told I was a type 2 before being ill. But am now on insulin twice a day and retested for secondary diabetes brought on by pancreatitis 5 years ago. Hope you get bloods down ASAP x

I think it's quite possible the OP is not T2 but late onset T1 with a BS level that high. If slim this is particularly likely so in addition to a possible need to go to A&E, the GP should be asked to do the tests for T1

I had a BG level of 22 and HbA1c of 115 with no symptoms. I’m slim and they thought late onset Type 1 but recent antibody test confirmed type 2. Please take this seriously OP as you are putting every system in your body under immense stress and damage. Good luck

Well if I wasn’t ******** myself before I sure am now !

Joking aside I do appreciate the feed back.

I’m a 6’5” 23stone guy.
I was diagnosed last year with T2 the same levels ish and put on metaformin.

I have been stupid not to comply with my condition. I know this now.

Regards here and now I’m drinking lots and peeing lots.
I’ll watch the numbers closely and if no improvement then I’ll go for help.

Thank you all again

With numbers as high as those you are stating - you really should not wait to go for help, you should go now !
At teh very least Dial 111
