I'm Struggling

@Lucysmum
I buy my virgin coconut oil and peanut butter (100%) from bulkpowders (online).
Wouldn't advise the htc brand of coconut oil on the top shelf at Tesco's unless its used on your face or hair. It is an excellent product for that tho.
I also buy the linwoods ground flaxseed online and the chia seeds. These are bought from the cheapest amazon sellers I can find.
I know Holland and Barrats sell some ranges of products.
High street shops that sell the flax n chia seed are few.
Make sure you get ground flaxseeds.

I've ordered Linwoods ground flaxseeds and Linwoods chia seeds on line today because, as you say, none of the high street shops sell them. As for the coconut oil and peanut butter, these are two items I've never tried before and I don't even know when or how to use them or if I would be replacing them for something else.

Hi Lucy's mum
I am a skinny too struggling to put on weight I find that eating nuts as a snack almonds , brazil ,walnuts are all good also avocado ,,don't worry about your cholesterol too. much mine went. down with a lower Carb and higher fat diet .You have lot's. of good advice on here ,just keep on asking questions
CAROL

Hi Carol, I have had so much good advice and learnt so much. Since starting this thread I have read a number of the items recommended and learnt that semi skimmed milk has a sugar content so I've changed to putting cream instead of milk in my coffee this last day or so and I was buying the lightest range of butter due to worrying about my cholesterol levels well.... I've only a small amount left then its full fat butter for me from now on and it tastes nicer. Also, thank you for your support.

I get pure coconut oil from a Chinese warehouse in Liverpool.
It's a solid until warmed a little.
KTC is the brand and I get a 500ml (17 fl oz) tub for less than three quid.
I eat and drink it the wife uses it as a moisturizer and if my daughter stays overnight she always pinches some for her hair.
Versatile or what.
It seemed to cheap so I emailed KTC and within a few days got a reply assuring me it was nothing other than pure coconut oil extracted correctly and healthy.

Don't know why with ktc oil that it is a totally different colour to all the other virgin oils I've used. KTC brand did have a lot of people through different sites questioning it's origin and how pure it was.. After purchasing a jar of it compared to other makes, it got relegated to my bathroom.

Glad to hear flax and chia seeds bought. Thats a good choice, I think. I use linwoods too and know others here recommend them.

Almonf flour in recipes is just ground up ground almonds whizzed through a blender again. I got a little mini braun blender and just whizz them through it before using in recipes. I have to source cheaper brand from internet, in the shops ground almonds are expensive. They are really good in recipes along with coconut flour. I think my coconut flour came from bulkpowders too.

You'll have to experiment. Seeds are really good with berries. 50 years of no breakfast and I eat every morning they are so good. I love them with cream. I put frozen ones in a ramekin to defrost overnight and hey presto a **** quick good food source for one.. Really easy. They are nice puddings too!

Having increased fat in diet is just getting used to the idea that we've grown up with low fat/semi skimmed foods...I so love fat to carbs, seeds definitely helps enormously with stomachs and weight management.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on...

I certainly will and thank you to you all .... you gave me such a boost when I needed it the most. As I have said I am not a very good cook but... I do try. This evening for dinner I had an M&S Chicken, ham and cheese meal and decided to have steamed cauliflower and cheese sauce with it to boost my calories...I hope this is right....anyway I decided to add more cheese to the sauce and the outcome was....an overpowering cheese glup. I ate it but then had to have two portions of water melon to calm my mouth down and I'm now drinking lots of water. Oh well.... back to the drawing board.

There's a brilliant lunch time snack /eating post on here at the moment. I cant at 5am in morn copy the link over... But hopefully someone can..

It gives some brilliant suggestions for "easy" eating. Could be used any time and good fats.

Love the tragedy of the cheese gloop!! I've had some home made biscuits that even the birds wouldn't eat!!

Update

I would just like to thank you all so much for all your wonderful advice at a time when I was feeling quite down due to losing weight which I could ill afford to do.

I have the flax and chia seeds every day, try to have 2 eggs and I've increased my fats. The outcome is I have put on 3 pounds in weight. Not a great amount but.... by having your great advice it looks like I've stopped losing it and it was the continual loss that was really upsetting me as I did'nt know how to stop it but it looks like I'm now on the right track so, once again, many thanks to you all. .
