Immunotherapy for treating allergy (with type 1 diabetes)

Immunotherapy, often referred to as `desensitisation`, is the closest thing to a `cure` for allergy, particularly for allergies to stinging insects or pollen. (ASCIA)

A local general practitioner says that desensitisation isn’t advisable with type 1 diabetes.
But I couldn’t find any confirmation online.

I’m finding papers such as “Successful desensitization with human insulin in a patient with an insulin allergy”.
I also found a thread on this forum where desensitisation didn’t work and another one which mentions its use in a possible cure for type 1.
But there is nothing specific about type 1 diabetes and pollen allergy.

So I wonder what is the reasoning behind the GP's opinion.
Has anyone tried this treatment?

You'd have to ask the GP really, but in my experience GPs have very little or poor knowledge of type 1 diabetes. The GP isn't a medical researcher and it's doubtful they have a great understanding of how genetics and the immune system work as well.

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised...

Has anyone tried desensitisation to treat pollen allergy? Did it work for you?
