Hi could someone please give me a run down of their day taking four injections.
I am asking because my doctor wants me to switch to four injections. I don't know what insulin but the thought of four injections puts me right of.Bit like @Rokaab but I'm on Apidra / Tresiba so most of the time:
06:15ish inject + breakfast
12:00ish inject + lunch
18:00 ~ 17:00 inject plus dinner
10:30ish Tresiba
But that can all change, sometimes I will inject correction does, sometimes if I am low I will eat and inject afterwards sometimes I will inject say 10-15 minutes before eating.
Out of interest why do you ask?
Can you tell us what puts you off exactly? I would be very put off by the thought of taking your 2 injections and then being forced to eat the same amount of food at the same time every day.the thought of four injections puts me right of.
I am on a basal bolus insulin regime and don't think of taking 4 injections.
I inject every time I eat (bolus) and once more (basal).
This means I may snack between meals or miss a meal and just adjust my injection times accordingly.
Typically, I inject 15 minutes before eating but if I don't know what I am eating I am flexible and may inject later.
The basal is always the same time of the day regardless of food, exercise, weather, phase of the moon, ....
Hi where you say you inject 15 minutes before eating, is that with fast acting? If so what are the benefits
I just don't like thinking of my day including four injections. But you are right about eating the same amount of food at set times .Can you tell us what puts you off exactly? I would be very put off by the thought of taking your 2 injections and then being forced to eat the same amount of food at the same time every day.
Hi. You may have no choice. I do my daily Basal (no need to split it) at bedtime and leave the pen on my pillow so it becomes routine. The other three Bolus ones I fit it before the meal and it becomes routine. We all wish we didn't have diabetes but at least it's controllable. My wife has CKD and there is nothing she can do.I just don't like thinking of my day including four injections. But you are right about eating the same amount of food at set times .
Yes, this is fast acting.Hi where you say you inject 15 minutes before eating, is that with fast acting? If so what are the benefits
To me the injecting is a bit like preparing food. It's impossible to eat without making that sandwich, cooking that dinner, scrambling those eggs or calling my local pizza delivery service, just as it's impossible to eat without thinking of amount of insulin needed and usually injecting too.I just don't like thinking of my day including four injections. But you are right about eating the same amount of food at set times .
