Insulin , needle or Tablets?

I have been told after several weeks of taking insulin by needle, I will be able to take my insulin by tablet form. Is this a viable way too take insulin or is it best too stay on injection?
I am a big coward, especially at my age 58, I just hate needles and injecting myself is the worst nightmare in my life. I know it don't hurt when I do inject myself and there is a choice of needle m/metre. But if I didn't have too use them I would chicken out for tablets everytime, but I still use the injections without too much fear. :? ANY ADVICE.. Ken
 
I didn't think they had started human clinical trials of those yet?

Did the doctor tell you the name of the tablet, maybe he means tablets to make you body produce more insulin or more sensitive to insulin, those are what are normally used. Metformin is a common one.

What size and type of needle are you using? Make sure you have the smallest thinest one, they are much less scary I think! Even the 5mm ones seem less worrying than 6mm ones, to me!
 
i use 4mm needles, and 99% of the time dont feel a thing

they really are thin and short.. i do have a box of 5mm which in comparison look quite large
 
I know my uncle was initiallly put on to injections when he was first diagnosed as his levels were soooo high....he then later went on to tablets and has been so for the past 20 years. He is now having to go back to injections....he is I think somewhere between 75 and 79 years of age.

I already take Metaformin tablets with the insulin!
