Was at hospital yesterday and was given a new Medtronic 640g pump.

We were advised that as cost is £3K we should get this added to house insurance or take out a stand alone policy for this.

Has anyone else been advised about this. I had a quick google for this and there seems to be a specialist pump insurance company, but i thought cost was quite high

I was told the same and added it to my house insurance.
The extra cost was much less than £6 per month but I guess there is more risk involved, if on the rare chance you do have to call upon this insurance will they understand what you are talking about.
I was reasonably confident it would be ok because the guy I spoke to had type 1 and said I was not first person he provided quotes for.

My hubby got my pump covered by our home insurance (Direct Line) and wasn't charged extra.

Be careful that is is covered out of the house, not just for it getting taken from the house.
