Insulin query

Type of diabetes
Prediabetes

I was diagnosed with prediabetes almost 2 months ago and am following the keto diet plus fasting. My BG levels, because I rarely have anything I shouldn't, are 99.9% in the normal range so I'm quite chuffed. However on a Facebook forum someone said just because my BG is OK it doesn't mean my insulin is. To be honest I'm not sure what was meant by this, nor what to do about it!

Can anyone explain please?

I treat whatever I read about diabetes on Facebook with a pinch of salt. I don't know what it means and I wouldn't want to guess.

If you're really achieving the level of accuracy that you report, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

@Diakat , @himtoo @Jaylee @therower - am I missing something here?

I just worry in case I'm doing something wrong because I'm doing this on my own, and this person seemed quite Diabetes-savvy!

If your bloods are in a good range then you certainly aren't doing anything wrong. They were probably just jealous.. facebook can bring out the worst in people..

In my opinion you cannot argue with your results - seems like you're doing it ALL right. I wish my flippin results were in range 99% of the time.

But please ask questions here, such a wealth of experience in these forums, you cannot go far wrong.

Well - there is no way to remove insulin from the system other than to eat low carb so it is not over produced - which it seems is what you are doing - and if you were under producing then you would not be having good BG results - I think that some people just want to spread worry and concern....

Not at all in my book Urb. :)

@cmor16 , it would be interesting to know what type diabetic (if they were at all?) & what meds prescribed for this person, made this Facebook comment to you.. ;)

If how you manage yours works. Keep going!

Thanks :-) I can't really remember now, sorry.

Not a problem. :)

Just focus on your own condition's managment. With regards the the coment you read on FB? Some folk create their own general "sound bites" without the means to elaborate... The indevidual on FB might have had to go through a series of tests (like a c peptide.?) in order to confirm the diagnosis type & treatment? (But this is only supposition on my part.) ;)

As a T1 myself. I was tagged into a thread about "insulin." Which I can't do without injecting.

Your keto diet is working for you. Long may it do so..:D

If this was said in conjunction of difficulty loosing weight on a low carb diet, I can understand this.

I read this post earlier today and thought about how much Zoe's words apply to pred's times 100 because we can produce a lot of insulin, see
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/type-2-insulin-control.148125/#post-1792945

Nothing to do but keep plodding on with low carb, the insulin will reduce eventually. i think @bulkbiker and @CherryAA have had fasting insulin tests.
I never expected to lose weight low carbing so it was a bit of a shock to lose 6 stone. I'm going through a difficult patch the last few years but still losing without trying in last 18 months, hope this helps.

Actually it was in relation to a post about not being able to lose weight, Alison, so that link was very helpful-thank you. I have been having a terrible time trying to lose weight but it's finally coming off slowly but surely. People have remarked that I look slimmer, especially around the face so I'm sticking at it ...and also keeping off the scales!
