Hi all

Just wondering re experience post diagnosis of trying to organise critical illness cover. Already have mortgage cover to pay out on death only but trying to be prudent. Not in a position to not work (who is?) and although hoping not to have any complications during lifetime (please .....), possibly have another 40+ years of this.

Basic surfing not giving me much hope in terms of either being declined, or premium being the debt of a developing country. The irony is of course that its not serious enough to pay out for diabetes per se on most of the lists but the complications are bad enough (potentially) to refuse you. Institutional discrimination. Grrr :x Especially when they measure risk on parents and current habits. And of course, that cant change over time can it......Swines. Enough to worry about without thinking about homelessness (sorry if overly negative, still in catastrophic stage given dx new).

Thanks in advance

You might be able to arrange critical illness cover but you may get hammered one way another regarding the diabetes.

1. the cost may be very high
2. any illness arising from the diabetes may be excluded.

You would be best to speak to a broker who you can trust. You do need to read the small print on any policy you consider taking out.
