Hello all,

I've just joined this site, after being diagnosed with Type 2 about.... *counts on fingers* ... 3 days ago. Was admitted to hospital with suspected case of appendicitis, came out with confirmed case of diabetes. Can't say the NHS don't give you anything these days!

I did Applied Zoology at University, and learnt many things - all of which are about as useful as watching a David Attenborough documentary (I'm not mocking, they're really very good). I'm also trying to learn Mandarin (although mostly failing).

Hello I'm Gerry I am male and 71 years old and was diagnosed with Type 2 about a year ago, bit of a surprise as I was not overweight or inactive.
I used to love cycling and walking as I live in Scotland there was a lot of choice. I now have diabetic amyotrophy so the cycling and walking ended, I am a fairly upbeat person and decided this was a challenge and not a disability.
