Well, my name is Liz, female, from Hampshire and in shock. Last week, at the ripe age of 66 diagnosed as type 1, following an excursion to the horizontal, more than once, with DKA!
So I’m the oldest L plated pricker in town(!)
I had my retirement all planned out but now need to take this into account.
I was a nurse, love travelling, have a fabulous family and married to the long-suffering for 46 years.
Discovering that dealing with diabetes as a nurse does not prepare me for holding a diagnosis.
DUK is proving a godsend for me. Thank you

Hey.....Thank you for your welcome. It is all very complicated though. Like being an alien crash-landing in Tescos. So much to learn in such a short time when the old brain is tucked away in the off position. Hopefully I’ll get there- it’s only been a month. My Diabetes Community Team are so good so that helps.
Keep up the amazing work xx
