Hi I’m seventy two years old and in a constant fight with type two diabetes, tracking and trying to resist an increase in my small Metformin dose, not looking for anything other than some answers to any diabetic questions I might have or can relate to. Hope 2

I have a beautiful Spanish rescue dog who is extremely nervous after 6 years of living with us.
I’m no good at sports but watch Spurs with a passion…..I have football Tourette’s which is not surprising being a Spurs fan.
I don’t get angry easily and takes a lot for me not to like someone. When I do get angry, I think I shout, but have been told it’s not even very loud!
I like most music but have no favourite bands
Never been camping but love holidays abroad specially the Caribbean area. Although my favourite city/place is Rome & would love to return
Still very much in love with my husband after many years wed but boy can he annoy me at times
I work in a school office, which is normally manic
I least like about myself…I’m too placid. I always need to be the peace maker, make excuses for everyone’s faults and too scared to have a voice when I really should do!

Hello, I’m Rosi, female in my late 60s, I live near Milton Keynes in the UK, and recently reduced my work hours from (very) full time to 24 hours a week so I can get a better work/life balance.
I’ve been borderline diabetic for many years, but now declared Type 2 Diabetic by my GP and started on medication earlier this year. I’m taking a daily 40mg statin tablet to reduce borderline high cholesterol, and Metformin 3 x 500mg to improve blood sugar. Second blood test due at the beginning of October, so we’ll see if they’re working….
Vertically challenged, I’ve been obese for decades, but have lost 2 stone in the last nine months by counting Weight Watcher points. Aiming to lose another 2 stone, which will put me on the chart as overweight rather than obese.

Hey, so I'm Bogs (not in RL, in internet land):

I'm 47, female, wife, mum to 3 teens and one intensely insane but loveable cat. Type 2, diagnosed in 2021. I'm in England. 3 words to describe me: thoughtful, interested, quirky. Apple but living with an Apple-phobe husband. I'm cherry-picking the Qs here... no I don't get angry easily. In fact, the opposite. Bugs me - can see there are times I should feel legitimate anger and... nothing... Yeah to piercings, no to tattoos. I have seriously eclectic music and film taste, so won't go into that. Love camping. Glamping even better now TBF. No fake tan. My teenage daughters more than make up for that. I should own shares. Been fortunate to visit loads of countries. No favourite city as I don't like cities! Well, I like to visit for particular things but get me out into the countryside with big skies and beautiful landscape please. Always chasing a sunset or a sunrise. Yes I work, self-employed, have run my own business for 10 years this year.

Have joined the forum today because I've got a pickle of a question so will go hunt down the best area to ask it!

We all have diabetes here so that part is boring, especially because you already found your way with asking diabetes related questions by starting a thread.

We do need to know about the cat though!

Hi I’m Sean and very recently diagnosed with Type 2. Very much in denial to the extent that the diabetic nurse has differed decision on medication until next blood test just after Christmas 25 after I convinced her I would change my lifestyle- but very unclear what that will be!

I’m a 58 male office based worker - from home - and get very little exercise, which I think is the heart of the issue (oh and my love for carbs and sweets - the former I didn’t understand had the bad sugar).

I live in the south west of the UK in Somerset with my lovely girlfriend and out aging Caviller King Charles Spaniel.

I’m best described as friendly, normal, loyal and due to my job use both Apple and Microsoft (Apple isn’t quite there yet on gaming).

I have an eclectic taste in music from Foos to Elton John, Alter Bridge to John Denver.

I have travelled for work and pleasure though as I get older and post covid I feel I am a natural hermit enjoying my beautiful home in the heart of Somerset.

Not much into sports or the gambling that appears to go with it but have taken up numerous hobbies- mostly she’s craft ie woodworking, diy and collecting tools!

Yes been in love and watched that turn to hate and finally ambivalence for the sake of my Children and grandchildren - married twice and would do again but not sure I have the courage.

Yes I work but would like to retire at 60 so a little over 17 months away I have an MSc in a subject relevant to my job that is really an MBA.

I feel that answering a question honestly about what I love and hate about myself would be too personal suffice to say I’m happy in my own skin and intend to stay that way.

I suspect I’ll stay a stalker in this forum but also suspect that that is part of my current phase of denial!

We’ve all been where you are now and it’s a steep learning curve, take your time and have a read round the forum. A lot of us with T2 restrict our carbs to help control our BG, if you scroll down my signature there’s a few links to the main website you may find useful
