I can't find the form to fill in to introduce myself. How do I get to it?
Hi drivingrichard, I'm new to the forum and have the same problem. Glad it's not just me! I'll keep an eye out for the response but did you notice there's a question on there asking if you're wealthy? Not entirely happy with that one as I can't for the life of me imagine why that should be relevant...

Hello and welcome @divingrichard and @TrishMabey .
Sorry you are having difficulty with this thread.

It was set up many years ago, mainly as an ‘icebreaker’ . So anyone new, and not sure where to make a first post had something to start with.

There is no obligation to answer any of the questions , unless you want to.

There is no form to fill in, either. If you choose to you can go to the first post in the thread, copy it, and respond to some of the questions.
Alternatively, just check out some of the threads that interest you and ask your own questions.

Moderators have info for new members in their signatures, at the end of their posts. You will find mine by scrolling to the end of this one.

Hope you find the info you are looking for.
Best wishes,
Pipp.

Hi, I'm Trish and new to the forum.

I've been trying to post the newbie form but it keeps telling me there's a problem with it. Apparently, my answers are 'spammy' or 'inappropriate'! Made me laugh a bit but I can't figure out what it's so offended by.

Sooo, I'm 64 years old and was diagnosed with T2D about two months. I live in the West Midlands but originally from Bournemouth. Retired early so no longer work.

No sports and my days are filled looking after my rather poorly partner.

Love all sorts of music from Classical to heavy rock. Really enjoy a good police drama.

Regards Trish,,,

The forum has a sometimes overzealous filter to prevent new members from posting links to disencourage spammers. This includes links/replies to an old post.
If this happened in this thread, it may be the filter caught your reply or copying the first post in this thread. Very annoying!

I've listed a set of questions below that you can answer to tell us more about yourself. By no means do you have to answer all of them, and if you feel like adding further information, feel free.

Hi ThornyHedges here. I'm a Newbie to this app as I've recently been told that my blood sugars are too high and I'm pre-diabetic.

I've signed up for the Low Carb program and it is making me realise just how much of my diet as been bread/potatoes/pasta based. Oh with a few(!) chocolate/crisps thrown in there too.

Also have CKD, one kidney & trying to lose a wee bit of weight ().

Hi I am Deirdre Kent, aged 87 from New Zealand but you didn't have NZ as an option so I used Australia for a country. I have type 3c diabetes but of course was misdiagnosed at Type 2. I am skinny, having been on a plant based diet for seven years. But I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Exocrine insufficiency two years ago so have been on Creon with food ever since. I spent most of my life being married to a GP and later to an ex principle of a polytech so practically all my work has been voluntary, as a campaigner and founder of new organisations. Worked for ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) up until we got the Smokefree Environments Act in 1990. Trained as maths teacher but only taught for a while. I have four kids, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild, most of whom live in NZ but some live in Australia or UK. I am in a retirement village. Diagnosed only recently with marginal diabetes and currently have a continuous glucose monitor on to help me understand what is happening. Today it ranged from 4.7mmol/L to 13.2. The latter after I had eaten two small filo pastry filled with spinach (bought). Too much fat and filo pastry has fat and refined carbohydrates. I am a fan of what Dr Neal Barnard has written on diabetes.

Hello Good Morning,

14 yrs ago I was told I had diabetes managed to kick it somewhat. I am now listed as prediabetic my blood sugar readings are somewhat good but I get so scared that I will go back to being diabetic. My blood sugar this morning after breakfast was 8.0 in the last year after meals I have never gone over 10. Despite thid I am still anxious.
Anyone out there with any advice would love to hear from you.

welcome to forum :) you've done awesome reduced to prediabetic levels way to go. can only try to offer some reassurence that as you've managed it before if tipped over you'd be able to do it again.

Heres an anxiety self help guide that the nhs recently gave me https://oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2023/01/Anxiety-moodjuice-guide.pdf hopefully somethings contained within that will prove useful on the anxiety aspect. you could also speak to your dr on general anxiety should you feel that is appropriate :)

best wishes & good luck to the future.

Hi I am a 78 year old granny married 56 years. I coped ok with diet and exercise until I fell and I broke my arm badly and registered 26 bs in the morning after operation with fasting since 11am previous day. Suddenly I’m on Metformin and Jardiance and I am a real Diabetes 2. It’s been about 4 weeks and I have had lots of pain from my arm. I had fun trying to cope with thirst, toileting one handed in a hospital gown, etc. I’m looking forward to having my cast off and continuing to try to eat a low carb diet. I live Melbourne Australia,in a retirement community and up till now hubby and I have coped well, independently. I am reading ‘the glucose revolution’ and ‘rethinking diabetes’ and coming to terms with life without chocolate biscuits. I am interested in reading about other people’s experiences and learnings about life as a true blue diabetic
