Hello.
I am Alistair Wagner
I am a 63 year old male living in Johannesburg South Africa.
I am a Chartered Accountant and have served as a director in several businesses in the Financial Services Industry for the past three decades. I currently hold a couple of Non Exec Directorship roles.
I have a family history of T2 diabetes with my Dad and siblings having suffered from it for several decades.
I was diagnosed last year.
I am here to learn and share.

Hi All!
My name is Lou. I am a 52 year old female from Wisborough Green, West Sussex in the United Kingdom.
I enjoy walking and have a nine month old Jack Russell Terrier puppy who keeps me busy!
I have been diagnosed with Factor V Leiden, I have post thrombotic syndrome in my right leg from a previous DVT in 2018. In April this year I was diagnosed with another blood clot, this time in left leg as I re clotted on Rivaroxiban so now have been put on warfarin and have to watch what I eat due to vitamin K as it can interact with the warfarin.
I was also diagnosed with pre diabetes in May this year and have been on the prevention of diabetes programme which my doctor referred me to which I’m actively recording everything, logging meals, drinks, snacks, moods, symptoms and exercise activity and after speaking with the nurse today she has told me to limit my carbohydrates to one daily.
I also have osteoarthritis in my hips, knees and back and currently have a shoulder injury.
I am preschool teacher and am currently on summer break.
I am also carer to my partner who has osteoarthritis, heart issues and has Type 2 diabetes.
I like learning and reading and currently have just finished level 2 in care and understanding diabetes. (Just waiting for confirmation to see if I have passed the my last unit).
I am always looking for new challenges in learning especially for my personal gain or for my job.

Hello I'm Les, I am 67 a retired broadcast journalist and live in Ireland. But enjoy travelling in Europe especially Spain and Italy. I enjoy visiting the UK but Brexit has made life sooooo complicated for everybody.

I attend exercise classes for those with long term conditions, supplemented by daily coastal and park land walks.

I'm Type 2 on meds and insulin Toujeo

I have arthritis in my knees, and controlled asthma and cholesterol.

Since going on insulin my steroid injections result in serious highs and have had to go to ED on 1 occasion and on the cusp of presenting very early this morning.

I enjoy my life but I hate taking insulin and the effect it has on what I eat and what time I take the medication and most importantly how long it takes to work.

I am slightly over weight for my height, not much mind.

Enough already!!

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

When were you diagnosed?

Tell us about your personal diabetes challenges.??

Best wishes…

Hi all. Im setup correctly

Well to introduce myself .. I'm a 74 T2D who first joined quite a few years ago and went from a HbA of 56 to total remission. Regrettably, lack of diligance and laziness now means my fasting BGs are averaging 10.5 so whenever my next HbA1c is, I'm expecting an unpleasant result. When diagnosed I was med free but more recently I've needed 2x 500mg of Metformin a day.

Add to this, in August 2024 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and in April 2025 "Tarquin" (my cancer and a sizable chunk of my lower intestine was removed. I was given a stoma and three months later this was reversed.

Unfortunately, thanks to the bowel stuff and the diabetes my immune system is heavily compromised.

So I'm back and ready to start the fight back. Last Friday in my GP surgery my fasting BG was 17.5 but already it's down to 10.8 - not good, but at least much improved.

The crazy thing is that I know what to do - I just failed to do it. So here I am, back again bruised but not permanently harmed.

When I was here last time the forums were very busy and I'm hoping theres enough of us here and active to keep things going.

Stay well all
