Thank you for giving some reassurances. It's 1:30am & I´m still churning it over & over but, thankfully, I am a proactive person so learning from yourself & others & adapting changes you´ve all had to make to help find my own balance (eventually!!) & give me back control somewhat. I'm already happy I've made the choice to join this community. I'll need it awhile in the coming us, weeks.... lifetime!Hi Rae, yes, I felt the same when I was told last week, but what a difference a few days makes. I was searching through the internet looking at horrendous pictures and reading frightening articles...I've stopped that and recognise I have the power to manage this and be all I can be. You are not alone and although I don't know what your disability is, I hope, in time , you'll feel positive about how you can get healthy by looking after your diet and loving your body. My energy is going into changing my lifestyle, drinking less wine, cutting down on carbs and cutting out sugar...I want to live a long, happy life and for my children to know I care enough to look after myself so that I can share happy times to come...for me, this has come as a shock too, but now I see it as a blessing in disguise and will lose weight slowly and manage this with care and Love. Let yourself grieve and when you come out the other side, make the changes you need to ...la vie est belle x x x
hi, i felt the same, it felt like the end of the world at the time (5months ago) i've learnt so much here, people will help you there are many who will give you help and support. Allow yourself to wallow then move on with it, i can only say it does get easier, my first readings were over 12, just checked now 5.4, so don't get to down. Take care Jill
Many thanks. I will click on your link in the morning & take in & read any advice existing diabetics can offer me right now. You're very kind to say Hi. Thank you again. RaeHi Rae. bummer isn't it. It may not be as bad as you think though.
Have a look HERE.
Some people have turned the whole thing around.
I hate porridge too, which is good as it is a grain which is bad for many of us.
Sorry to hear it is an additional condition for you.
I think that's what scares me in the immediate sense as I don't know what my readings are nor have no equipment yet to check. I guess I should prioritise getting back to my GP & getting what I'll be needing. Thank you. RaeThank you for your kind words
Hello MightyMacs & thank you for sharing your own recent diagnosis & how you have since already regained some normality through research & being proactive in implementing what you've learned to your own unique situation. I will get there I know. It just has to all sink in first & I guess I'll also be doing my own practical research as well as a little soul searching. Thank you kindly for sharing & your words of support & encouragement. RaeHi Rae, yes, I felt the same when I was told last week, but what a difference a few days makes. Thank you Jill. I think the scary bit is the gap between it being diagnosed so matter of factly over the phone & instructed to visit my GP asap for some kind of oral medication & whatever else. I am so in the dark about what I'll need from a medical perspective to what lifestyle changes I'll have to make further when I'm already struggling with disability. I sometimes think it gets too much & can't deal with things but something spurs us all on after wallowing in the self pity period! It's comforting that 3 kind folk on here have already responded. Living alone I need others in my life, even just through the internet. More so when everyone shares the same medical issue. So glad I came across this site already. Rae.
