Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi my name is Yvonne ,I am 45yrs old married to simon for 24 yrs and mum to three grown up kids ,two boys and a girl .I live at home with simon and my two furry weans ,Bonnie a lurcher dog and Puss my nine yr old cat . I live in a small town of Kilwinning ,which is about 25 miles west of Glasgow, in west of scotland . i enjoy reading and walking and swimming and spending time with my 5 yr old granddaughter . I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on the 9th of may this year.I am on 4 injections a day and on a healthy eating plan .Everything is still quite new and confusing to me .My family have been supportive especially my younger sister who is also diabetic ,but she was diagnosed when she was 8 .She helps when she can but there has been alot of changes in treatment since she started
plus she is blind due to neuriopathy .

Hello everyone, my username is ibivi. I am a female in my early 60s. I live in Canada. I am married and have a cat named Lanny. I love birds, animals, flowers, reading to name a few. I have a desktop computer (Microsoft with Windows 8.1.1) and an ereader (Kobo Arc). My mother pierced my ears when I was a girl and I wear earrings. I love to travel by train. I am afraid to fly but I did fly to Europe twice in the 70s and haven't flown since. Some of my favourite TV shows are Sherlock, Masterpiece Mystery, Southland. I have some university education where I studied English and Geography. My biggest challenge is dealing with being a type 2 diabetic. I have other health issues as well. I also have to deal with depression mostly brought on by health and ageing issues. I love music. Some of my favourites are Van Morrison, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, Janis Joplin. I read the New York Times, Washington Post, London Review of Books, New Yorker magazine, Vanity Fair, Flipboard, Zite. My favourite design is Art Deco. My favourite historical person is Mark Twain. I like art by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.

What is eating to your meter mean?
 
Eating to your meter means you test just before your first forkful of food and should be in my case hopefully 4.5 to around 5 and 2 hrs later around 5.8 l am happiest at under 6 if it is 6 or above l get depressed.

But the nhs guidelines are
Pre meal 4 - 7 to me insane 7 is WAY WAY to high
2 hrs post meal T2 Under 8.5 again WAY WAY to high
T1 Under 9 l am T2 but l am guessing no regular T1's would be happy at that but don't know they will let you know.

Given the amount of complications present in diabetics and bad advice the nhs gives esp. on diet those figures are probably a struggle for those following nhs advice to reach. Most will be over that so l guess if they can get to that high number they should be pleased.
