Hello, I'm Erin I was diagnosed as type1 on New Year's Eve - I couldn't get an appointment with my dr so went to lloyds pharmacy who sent me to GP who sent me to hospital where I was admitted and diagnosed. I'm on novorapid and lantus - my pancreas is still producing insulin so my doses have been changing quite frequently and having lots of hypo's. Trying to fit my new diagnosis into my life while planning my wedding (getting married in June). I have two dwarf hamsters - Starsky and Hutch and enjoy exercising, reading and eeeaaaating! Exercising on hold at the moment at nurses advice but hoping to get back into it soon I've only just joined the forum but hope to meet others for chats and advice x x

Please all have a look round and ask as many questions as you need to, there will always be someone to help.

Hiya, I joined yesterday and not sure how I missed this Forum before, as coming up for Fifty years with Insulin Contolled Diabetes T1, now using Pump method of delivery and how things have changed over all those years. Some things come and go and then get launched again as something new thirty years later.
At least you no longer have to boil your syringe and needles every day, keep it in surgical Spirit, no blood monitoring just a tablet in a test tube with urine and compare the colours on chart. So unreliable with no warnings of low blood sugar. No nearer finding a cure for type 1 over all these years even though millions of pounds have been donated to research. The complications are still here, and many needless amputations are taking place. I enjoy Steam Heritage Railways and work on one to, the NYMR.
