Hoping to get a bit of advice. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 30 years ago and am now 63. Originally I was diet controlled but had to start metformin to keep things under control. I was on metformin till last year when I was told I could come off it and go back to being diet controlled which was brilliant news. A couple of months ago my hba1c was coming back slightly raised but not enough to be a concerned. 2 weeks ago I was asked to do some finger prick testing at home as my hba1c was still increasing. My BSL’s were coming back around 12 to 13 but I also had them coming in low at around 3.9. The diabetic nurse now thinks I’m possibly type 1. I have to go for a “special” blood test to test my antibodies and see what’s happening. Anyway the advice I’m asking is how much of a game changer is this if it does come back type 1. I don’t drink, don’t smoke and my diet is good. I’m actually quite scared at the moment as there was a lot of “umming “ and “ahhhing” from the diabetes nurse.

Not new but haven't been around for awhile
My word the site has changed and will take me awhile to get used to the layout.
Am doing well dia be eyes wise.
My last two hba1c results have been 5.4 and 5.3
I never ever thought I would achieve these results x

Hi my names Barry, i live in Malton, in North Yorkshire, i'm originally from York, I'll be 66 on the 23rd of October, i have 2 daughters, 45 and 39, i have had type 2 diabetes since 2017, my reading at the moment is 8.6, which i'm willing to try any dietary advice to reduce this,FB_IMG_1661500530533.jpg
Been a Status Quo fan for the last 50 years.

Hi all my name is Melanie I was diagnosed diabetes type 2 in October 2020 . The reading they tell me after blood test is no 73 but I don't know what this is can anyone help explain in an easier way thanks xx

@minsterman , as long as you are not on medication that causes risk of hypo, you might like to try a low carb way of eating.

HI, My name is Sally. I am 59 and holding on to my 50s with a grim determination.
I am English and have, in the last month moved to Derbyshire
I first became diabetic 31 years ago. Undiagnosed gestational diabetes. Our son was full term stillborn...I believe the stress trhough me over into being type 1 diabetic. This is a pain as I love baking and licking the spoon !!;)
I am Married to a very patient man and have been for 34 years. 2 children, a boy and girl later both married and we have two delightful grandchildren, both under the age of 2, so my daughter has her work cut out!

I’m Lorna and was diagnosed with type 1 four years ago. I live in Devon and I’m 70 years young and have a dog called Bailey who keeps me fit and active. I have 2 grandchildren who also keep me busy and I play the clarinet in two music groups, I love classical music, and pop music from 50- 80’s. I love going abroad ( sadly curtailed at the moment) my longest trip was to New Zealand. I have a libre 2 and control my blood sugar through using insulin and a relatively low carb diet. Sometimes I struggle keeping to that!
