Hi everyone, my name is Kimmie and I have type 2 diabetes. I never worried about it and never had symptoms I didn't pay attention to what blood sugars were I was so physical with work and home life. Had a bad accident at work suffering a spinal cord injury, facial trauma, loss of teeth. Every since I have had trouble. So much so that I am being sent for an MRI of pituitary gland with possibility of having acromegaly. How could this happen? I feel so sad and hopeless. Hoping to find support and light at the end of the tunnel. I should mention that I've been prescribed insulin injection 25, (4 )500 er, metformin, farixga and Trajenta.

My name is Alan, and I am 77 years old, and live in South Yorkshire.
I was diagnosed with type1 diabetes in 2013, which came as something of a surprise.
I was put on to a regime of insulin injections, and have been on food management courses, as well as Dafne.
Having accepted my situation, I determined to undestand and manage as well as I could.
My insulin uasage is very low, and I only take 12 units of background once a day at 21.00
I carb count for quick-acting insulin, and I dose at 50% ratio.
My time in range is over 95%.
I manage my blood sugars through a low carb intake, plenty of exercise, and a reasonable alcohol intake (contrary to medical advice)

After 12 years of insulin management, medical preofessionals from other disciplines, renal, heart, etc, are now suggesting I am Type2, and not Type1. However, it has proved impossible to get at anyone to consider the wrong diagnosis, and change my diabetes management plan.

I have a University degree, back from when the world was black and white, and I became a Chartered Engineer.
I am now retired, and I spend substantial time gardening, and walking the dog.
I have played sport in the past to a reasonable standard - football, rugby, squash, and golf, although now I am progressing to the idle.

Hi, I do not have Diabetes myself (yet) despite being very overweight due to arthritis in both knees and lack of mobility. BUT I do look after my husband who has type 2 diabetes. He has never been overweight (before or after his diagnosis). Diet and weight loss injections won't help him. However, despite medication he struggles to keep his blood sugar under control and as a consequence his food choices have become less and less and boring. Breakfast is an important meal for him, but even brown bread, brown pitta or German pumpernickel bread spikes his sugar. Without bread, cereal or even porridge, he struggles with having mainly eggs or greek yogurt and never feels satiated. Does anyone else know how I can make his breakfast more exciting and fill him up? Thank you.

Hi @Polarbearsrock and husband,

Welcome to the forum.
You'll likely get more answers if you start a new thread with your questions, this is mainly a place where people introduce themselves.

And in answer to your question: does he like bacon and eggs without the bread? Very filling, and very unlikely to spike his blood glucose.
There are various types of lower carb breads available as well, if he feels a slice of bread is part of breakfast.
Typical dinner food can be breakfast too: steak, mushrooms, veggies with or without cream or cheese...

Somehing to be aware of if changing dietary habits are his medications. You say he's on tablets but you don't specify what they are. Some tablets can cause hypos (low BG), especially when suddenly eating far less carbs than usual. No problem if he's on metformin only, but it might be something to watch out for if he's on other types of medication, like gliclazide.

@Jim Baxter , the weather is getting right again for those who like a leasurely sail in good weather, go out!
After many years of working on sailing ships, I'm now trying to choose my weather and only sail when my coffee won't get blown out of my mug (although I do love sailing in winter in very light weather).
Have you seen this duet by Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan? I love them both, but as soon as Dylan starts the second verse it's goosebumps for me, they're leagues apart:
