Beware I ramble on and on - all questions answered after the essay
Was just diagnosed fully last night - been having high reading for many years but always managed to control with diet so doctor never officially called me a diabetic but alas diet not working, weight ballooned and sugar levels sky high - my downfall is I spent a lot of time in bed and so to tired to cook or eat properly ( do cook for family but by time they are fed am to tired to eat much) so end up eating bread, bread and more bread and its been bad past year or so. Can happily live without cakes, biscuits, sweets, chocolate etc but a nice bread oh boy cannot resist. Never been a fizzy drink fan, give me water every time nor a big drinker, always been able to take it or leave it but pain meds stopped that years ago.
So put on medication to try to get them under control asap and hopefully will be able to kick myself enough to eat properly no matter how I feel - joined in hope of learning about what I can eat that is quick and not to painful to make, hands give me lots of problems and often cooking for family in tears but hey that is the way the dice rolled for me.
Am lucky always have had and still do have good cholesterol levels, at one point doctor was worried as so low, now normal and hopefully will stay that way. Do have to increase calcium as two tests over past year have shown its low and becoming lower but more investigations to be done before possibility of meds and hope to sort it naturally, have enough meds to take as it is.
So just waiting to go to chemist later to pick up the Metaformin - dr has said its a very low dose to start off with in hope of lessening side effects then see her again a week Monday and if ok dose will be raised.
I see diabetic nurse a week today for diet sheets and all other info our surgery supplies plus got basic info from dr last night which I have read.
Anything else mmm - oh yes did have diabetes when I was pregnant with each of my children but always went as soon as gave birth, they did warn me then it made chances of Type 2 far higher for me as I got older and they did keep a check on glucose levels over the years.
I do take Vit D, Vit B12 and Magnesium to help manage my other conditions ( Fibromyalgia, CFS, possibly MS -one doctor says yes others say no as have the lesions on brain but spinal tap was clear so at moment other symptoms that are not classed as fibro but could be MS are just put down to neurological after tests but not what exactly is causing them, no dr seems to want to test further so don't want to cause problems so just accept it but makes life harder but I guess am 59 so from their point of view why waste money on someone whose life is basically over and spends a good part of her time in bed anyway and I do understand would rather money was spent on someone younger. So long as i can stay well enough to look after granddaughter who we have legal custody of and are bringing up that is all that I ask.
I am not quite as lazy as I sound on reading this over - I wake take pain meds, they kick in about 2hrs after, so take nice and early then rest of day am up do bits, back to bed where I go on-line, make phone calls, read, etc then back up to do more and repeat all day every day - so house and garden gets done in small bits of time .
Sorry as you can tell I have a problem once I start I cannot stop.
