I prior to being diagnosed lost 3 stone on the cambridge diet . I have some products left and it did cross my mind that this maybe an idea as you are not eating foods at all and is very restrictive.

Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
Hi, I have no idea what the Cambridge diet is, and unlike many members on here I wont try to tell you what diet is best for you. What I will say is that like a puppy bought for Christmas diabetes is for life so you should really be looking for a diet that you can stick to for life, not just for a few months to loose weight.

You will only find out what works for you by trying different foods and testing your bg levels before and after eating so you can see what different foods do to your bg levels.

Good luck

People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
This is the question and answer from the Cambridge Diet website.

Can someone with diabetes be on the Diet?

Answer

Cambridge programmes can now be used with care in people with Type 2 diabetes.

The support of the client’s/patient’s doctor and specialist nurse is essential.

The higher calorie programmes are used initially, with a gradual reduction dependent on response, and medication. Weight loss, and normalization of blood glucose levels can prove extremely beneficial. People with Type 1 diabetes may occasionally be helped with the Cambridge programmes, when medication changes and monitoring of blood glucose are supervised by health care professionals.

No idea if it is beneficial to a Diabetic or not. Probably just lining somebody's pockets ?

Ken.

Thank you both very much for your reply, yes you both gave me food for thought. Excuss the pun.
Like the statment diabetes is not just for xmas that is very true and yes it does require more than a sticking plaster as you stated, thank you for that statment. I am in the process of trying to adapt my diet via low carb.
It is just recently i have chosen to take my diagnosis seriously, dont know why i didnt previously but went on a DESMONDS workshop and i realised the seriousness.

Yes its true enough why line others pockets when there is perfectly healthy food out there that works, thanks for looking that info up for me.

i would simply read all the info on the packaging and make a decision from there.
Essentially though, if asked, I would always recommend real food.

Be warned that the Cambridge Diet puts you into keytosis at the start. When my sister did it the biggest check they did was for diabetes because of the keytosis.

Keytosis is different to ketoacidosis, the latter is the dangerous one for diabetics.
