Is skipping breakfast really that bad?

I really struggle to eat until I have been up for about an hour and a half or longer so delay food, otherwise I vomit which kind of counteracts breakfast and I lose my metformin. The delay does mean lunchtime comes round quicker so mid day tests are up slightly but by the evening are usually down again to an acceptable level. I have been advised that spreading the carb intake is better but morning sickness is no joke! Any ideas for an early breakfast that is likely to stay down? bearing in mind we all have different tastes of course. I don't do cooked breakfast except on hols a i can't even bear the smell of this before 10 am! I also work so time constraints apply. My breakfast if at home is porridge and if at work oat cakes with no topping at around 10 am. Any other ideas please?

On mornings when I don't feel like a cooked breakfast yet, I'll have an handful of raw almonds - just enough to satisfy my body that I am feeding it and there is no need for my liver to provide extra Glucose.

if you take meds that must be taken with food, then its essential.
I must admit that breakfast does not appeal to me but I have to take meds before 8 so I have to eat a small breakfast.

I think that breaky can be of anything that suits you and if you are on metformin, my uinderstanding is that you need to eat breaky as well. This I assume can be a glass of milky drink, biscuit, fruit etc. Everyone I guess finds what suits them. I have to eat something otherwise I get really light headed and the eyes can't focus to drive to work!! But cooked breaky on a work day does not suit my time frame - only porridge in the microwave does it for me, but if it's an early start then its nuts and fruit or a slice of bread.

Have you talked to your diabetes nurse/GP about this?

Try replacing oats with ground almonds in your porridge. I have done that for years.

I'm diet only, so I only eat breakfast if I feel like it . For over a year, I didn't eat any. If it makes you feel sick, it seems like a bad idea to me to eat, especially a heavy load of stodge like porridge. If you need something for meds, how about a few spoons of yoghurt or a small piece of cheese. There's nothing sacred about breakfast.
